Maps of locations are inside him, as long as he doesn’t get shut down his body uses his computer to pinpoint his location and guides him that way.  Such as, “oh look, I’m on the corner of 1st and 2nd street in monsteropolis, now I can pinpoint my location on my map, there we go, know I know where I am and can use my maps as I walk.” But if he gets shut down and moved his positioning system is useless until he can pinpoint his location again.  And think, you can point at a Globe, it shows you some cities on it and you can pinpoint where you are, his maps work like that.))

… How exactly… Remote accessing of wireless networks to download the information? A sort of full body emission location system? extrapolation of present day terrain from future map data you had already downloaded?

My body scans my surroundings constantly, but it can be easily tricked because it includes objects such as book shelves which may be in the way. It also can be tricked by closed doors, which requires a visual to determine if a wall is actually a door.  Monsteropolis was a location in my own time I had marked on my global map, but the global map is of my own time, so known locations now may not show up on my maps, such as Skull Fortresses, buildings that have been taken down, and worse is the location of buildings that don’t yet exist, the only advantage is the automatic updating to my maps.

My GPS is inside of my body, my body automatically maps places I am and can be uploaded with maps as well. So my Global Positioning System is internal, and not linked to any satellites.

But it is vulnerable to magnets.

Only if his magnetic powers were active, as it is clear he is not always magnetically charged.  And as I only resemble a compass and my only compass based system is my GPS.  My systems, as are yours and the other dimensions have been well protected against the effects of magnets, though the are still attractive to you, they won’t damage your computers like all robot masters, except for Magnet Man himself, due to the proximity of it to his computer. But a powerful enough Magnet will disrupt my GPS.
